Routine exams are an important part of ensuring your pet's health and longevity. Often, they can detect early abnormalities that may lead to otitis, dermatitis, weight loss, dental disease, and more. We are equipped to treat common ailments and minor wounds or soft tissue injuries.
Geriatric and chronic conditions can become debilitating over time. We will work with patients and their families to determine when it's time to say goodbye. Owners can be alongside their pet in their home or property and support a peaceful life celebration.
In TCVM theory, disease is the result of an imbalance in the body. By integrating an individual's "pattern" of disharmony with clinical signs of disease, a practitioner can treat the whole patient. TCVM Consults are available to establish the best treatment plan for your pet.

We work closely with patients and their owners to ensure a healthy life balance within their environment, diet, exercise and mental well-being.
In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), an imbalance in the body (disease) and the individual's "pattern" of disharmony are examined to treat the "whole" patient. Using an integrative approach, therapies can be managed in your home allowing families and patients to participate in the healing process.

Acupuncture is a technique that is used to help balance the energy ("Qi") that flows through channels (pathways) in the body. Needles are inserted into specific points along these channels to stimulate areas of the body and re-open pathways to improve healing and discomfort for a variety of conditions.
The types of acupuncture commonly used are: dry needling, aquapuncture, electro-acupuncture and hemo acupuncture.
Herbal medicines (formulated according to their ingredients in the Chinese Herbal Materia Medica) can be used to help harmonize a particular imbalance and reduce clinical signs from disease. Often, when acupuncture is not well tolerated in a patient, herbs are a wonderful adjunct to treatment.
Utilizing the knowledge of energetics of food, diet recommendations can be made to help maintain a healthy balance in your pet.
By establishing a "pattern" diagnosis, a practitioner can focus on supporting particular body systems through diet modifications.
“Disease occurs when there is loss of balance between Yin and Yang” - Huang Di Nei Jing
As innate herbivores, equine patients often respond well to Acupuncture and Herbal treatment sometimes when other conventional methods have failed. Ask Dr Lisa about "Lily" who responded well to treatment for chronic thrush.
Feline patients can also benefit from Acupuncture and herbal therapies for a variety of conditions, such as: diabetes, kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, urinary tract infections, chronic upper respiratory infections, and arthritis.
Ask Dr. Lisa about "Lila kitty" who received treatment for hematuria and stress-induced cystitis. Felines are sensitive creatures and often conventional treatment modalities can be challenging for owners to support. TCVM is a wonderful alternative or integrative therapy to help improve your cat's life quality and longevity.
Canine patients may also experience improvement in their life quality when TCVM is integrated into treatment for a variety of conditions. For example, tendon and ligament injuries, arthritis or degenerative joint disease, endocrine disease, skin, GI problems, liver or renal disease (and much more) can respond well to TCVM, and result in an improved life balance with dry needling, electro-acupuncture and aquapuncture often combined with herbal medicine.
There are many conditions in animals (dogs, cats, horses, farm, exotic and poultry species) that can benefit from TCVM, such as:
Prevention, maintenance and intervention are key elements to promoting overall wellness. Chinese and western medicine are complimentary modalities and not substitutes for one another. As an integrative approach to medicine, acupuncture, herbal and food therapies can be used in conjunction with traditional western medicine.
"The TCVM practitioner views health as a state of harmony or balance existing between the internal environment of the body and the external environment it lives in.”
